Intercordia Welcomes Pascal Murphy – New Executive Director!

Intercordia Canada is excited to announce that at the end of May Pascal Murphy will take over from Joe Vorstermans as the director of Intercordia. Joe announced to the Board of Directors last fall that he believed it was time for new leadership to address the current challenges facing the organization. In January we struck a Selection Committee and the result of the process was to choose Pascal.

Pascal is an alumnus of Intercordia (King’s University College | Ukraine | 2005), has facilitated international experiential learning programs in Ghana, New Orleans and Guatemala, has lived in L’Arche Stratford, was a key person in the founding and development of the Social Justice and Peace Program at King’s University College and is an award winning teacher at Ryerson University. He is very involved in social and environmental justice issues, with a particular focus on homelessness in the Toronto area, and he is a vocal advocate in support of the LGBTQ community. Pascal and his partner Sarah live in Toronto.

Times of transition for a small organization like Intercordia are times of rejuvenation and delicacy. I believe strongly that Pascal has the gifts, sensitivity, experience and vision to lead Intercordia into the future. I trust he will be able to do so with the full support of all you …. the alumni, the universities and international partners, the funders, the staff, friends and Board of Intercordia. I invite all of you to work alongside Pascal to invigorate the mission of Intercordia and ensure that we continue to animate our program for the next generation of young Canadians, who like all of us, need to “See the World Through the Eyes of Their Hearts.”

Thank you for the countless ways you supported and cared for me. I am deeply grateful for these past 10 years and I wish all of you and Intercordia a bright and successful future.
Peace,
Joe Vorstermans

Pascal
